.These files are licensed by Philips and taken from the Nero rootdirectory. This application is needed for playing tracks on a CDI player.MPEGAV (MPEG-2 for SVCD): The AVSEQxx files contain the MPEG trackson the Video-CD.The first track only contains references to the data whichare stored not in the first track but in the subsequent tracks. This means thatalthough these files have a long nominal length they do not require muchspace in the ISO track.SEGMENT: The ITEMxxxx files represent the encoded single pictures.Theyare stored in the first track as Form-2 blocks and have a fixed length of150 blocks. The encoded files can be played on a PC provided a suitable package such asWindows Media Player is installed.DVD player software is required for MPEG-2.Other files and directories can be added to the CD-ROM.These are ignored bya player.(S)VCD also supports other special functions such as karaoke andhierarchical menus with pictures, but these are not used by Nero at the presenttime.Nero simply takes a list of MPEG or picture files and writes them to a CDin such a way that playing starts immediately with the first file, and the player sforward and reverse keys can be used to skip from file to file. You can set a pause that stops play at the end of every file. The pause is only avalue in the description of the file so there is no need to create empty blocks;the pause can be very long or can even be set to infinite, in which case theplayer is stopped and waits for an input from the user.7.11 HFS CDHFS is the name of the Apple Macintosh file system.Nero can burn so-calledHybrid CDs (which contain both ISO Level 1, ISO Level 2, Joliet and HFS data;see 'Creating a Hybrid CD') and 'pure' HFS-CDs (which can only be read onApple Macintosh computers!).An SCSI harddisk with the HFS data must beconnected up to the PC for this to work. The data can only be generated andedited with an Apple Macintosh PC.The layout of the file icons, the drive iconand the window positions on the Apple Mac are defined by the settings on theselected HFS partition. When connecting the hard disk with the HFS data, the SCSI harddisk must ofcourse be connected and powered up before the PC is turned on.There mustalso be no duplication of SCSI device numbers. You should also ensure that theHFS data do not exceed 640 MB otherwise they will not 'fit' on the CD.1.From the File menu, select 'Burn HFS Partition.'.This opens a dialog box with list of available HFS partitions. If the list is blankthen no SCSI harddisk with HFS data has been found.2.Now select the required HFS partition from the list and click 'OK'.Nero Creating a CD/DVD " 84You will now see the familiar Nero tab where you can start the write processin the normal way.3.The tab contains a number of checkboxes, some of which are alreadyenabled. All settings on this and the other tabs can now be reviewed and changed ifrequired.4.Confirm your selection by clicking on the Burn button. All the selected stepsnow run in sequence until writing is complete. You can monitor progress in astatus window which shows the individual steps being logged as they areexecuted.A typical final message would be: 'Burn process was successfulwith 12x (1800 KB/s).The CD is then ejected. The messages shown caneither be saved, printed or discarded.Close the window by clicking on theDiscard or Close buttons.7.12 Hybrid CDsA Hybrid CD contains files for the PC based on the ISO Level 1, ISO Level 2,Joliet standard and for Apple Macintosh computers based on the HFS standard.Nero creates so-called 'non shared' Hybrid CDs.This means that if you wishto use files on the Mac and on a PC then they must be on the CD twice: Once inthe ISO sector and once in the HFS sector.Caution: If you want to make a Hybrid CD from a PC, the HFS input data mustbe on an SCSI harddisk connected to the PC.Remember however that the dataon the SCSI harddisk can only be created with an Apple Mac computer.7.12.1 Creating a Hybrid CDAn SCSI harddisk with the HFS input data must be connected up to the PCbefore a Hybrid CD can be created. The SCSI harddisk must be connected andpowered up before the PC is switched on.There must also be no duplication ofSCSI device numbers.Caution: Neither the ISO data nor the HFS data nor both data together mayexceed 640 MB as they will not fit on the CD.1.Insert an empty CD into the recorder.2.Start a new compilation by clicking on the appropriate button or the Filemenu and the command New.3.Click the 'CD-ROM (Hybrid)' icon - the Hybrid tab is in front. It shows theexisting Mac partitions. If the list is blank then no SCSI harddisk with HFSdata has been found.Select the required HFS partition.4.On the ISO tab you can toggle between Mode 1 and Mode 2/XA format asrequired
